La Valle del Lenta
Alla destra orografica della Valle Po si apre il vallone laterale del torrente Lenta, primo importante affluente del Po.
La valle si presenta selvaggia ed impervia nella parte inferiore, dove si alternano affioramenti rocciosi e fitti boschi di faggio. Oltre l’abitato di Oncino si estende nella parte più elevata con ampie praterie utilizzate come alpeggi durante la stagione estiva, fino a raggiungere le pietraie del massiccio del Monviso.
Le numerose borgate conservano tuttora pregevoli testimonianze di architettura alpina e segni della religiosità popolare.
The Lenta valley
On the orographic tirht of the Po river is the side-valley of Lenta stream, the first important Po tributary.
The valley is wild and steep in its lower part, where rock outcrops alternate with thick beech-woods. Beyond Oncino the upper part of the valley widens out with its broad grasslands exploited as summer pasture, and then extends upwards to the impervious faces of the massif of Monviso.
Many hamlets still retain valuable examples of alpine architecture and traces of popular religiousness.
